Inscriptions-First Druid Glyphs

Posted by admin on 03/31/2010

Figured since these are almost entirely druid… The first lot of glyphs have been released, and many look good, some seem to change entire spells, and some are just for looks. They seem to have been ironing out the druid ones in particular for some reason.

Balance getting a closer look

Posted by admin on 03/30/2010

From MMOChampion.com Quote:I am focused on tanking an awful lot right now. It’s just a part of the game we think needs some help. It’s certainly not the only part that needs help, but it’s what I’m doing and I tend to post a lot so you see a lot of discussion about tanking. I actually appreciate the Balance community a lot because somehow you guys manage to stay fairly positive even though you have not gotten the attention you deserve (either from blue posts now or all throughout BC). I started to go through your tree in more detail today so I understand why you think there are too many mandatory talents, and I promise to get back to that soon. What do we want balance to be able to do? What’s your role? You’re a caster. Surprise, I know. But we think we didn’t always give you the tools to be a good caster before. You need: Competitive dps. Mages and warlocks just tend to get a lot of attention, maybe because there are more of them, or more races of them, or they are more archetypal classes (in the familiarity sense). Good AE utility. Encounters and dungeons tend to get designed with the assumption that the ranged dps can do AE. Hurricane is phenomenal now. I healed a run today and did really competitive dps with Hurricane on the ranged pulls. And I wasn’t even Balance! I love Starfall. It’s a rare spell because it feels new — it isn’t single target and it isn’t classical Hurricane-style AE either. CC. If a group has a choice between a druid and a mage and only the mage can CC, the decision gets a lot easier. With Entangling Roots used inside, problem solved. Group utility. I think deep balance provides that now. Even Insect Swarm and Faerie Fire have a better role now. Without the vicious cycle of Curse of Shadows buffing warlocks which lead to inviting more warlocks somewhat solved, I think it will be easier for Balance druids to get into raids regardless. We’ve just opened space for more classes now. The ability to keep causing damage. I think the oomkin thing was largely addressed in BC, but it’s still something we need to keep an eye on, or at least try and banish the stigma that other players still think it has.

Leveling Feral

Posted by admin on 03/29/2010

I use a mixture, depending on the mobs and my mood at the time. Going bear and proxy pulling one, then FFF another then charge a 3rd then back up into other mobs while swiping is a good way to quickly pick up 4-5 mobs at a time and can be nice and quick. -RareBeast: What are you trying to tell me? That I can out-tank & out-DPS them all? Druid Trainer: No RareBeast. I’m trying to tell you that when you have read the Feral Druid Numbers thread, you won’t have to.

I had a nerdgasm.

Posted by admin on 03/26/2010

It was in H VH. Had a druid healer. First off he /w me saying I had a nice collection of gear. I was immediately in a good mood. The run was like butter. Even had a DK in frost presence the whole time who didn’t pull aggro. Got the Void Guy achievement. The best part was me and the druid spent the whole run /e back and forth talking about tank gear, gem set ups and other random druids stuff. Was amazing. Have never actually had a serious intelligent discuss about mechanics in game before. It was pretty sweet. So next time life gets you down remember not everyone on your server is a moron. Someday you might meet that person. Then you too can have a nerdgasm. -Day light savings is for fools. What I think? That it’s always a matter of context. I await the changes in 3.1 but I still maintain my position on DK’s being too strong in PvP. But that’s cause I play on a PvP server and most of the time when I meet one it’s a 1 vs 1 fight. Arena implies partners that can turn the tide greatly. In a group setting, I don’t think any specific class is noticeably overpowered. That being said, I don’t PvP so much lately so I might have missed some important changes. But meh, in the end it’s just more of the same. People will always whine and will always ask for their favorite class to get buffed, blaming their ineptitude on the class being underpowered, and wanting I-Win of the Nightfall – Tauren Feral Druid Turns out the reports of the death of the team seems to have been greatly exagerated. Guess certain qq threads about the pvp sustainability of mages and rogues, have lost a little bit of credibility. This also seems to be a minor setback for the anti dk and druid qqers. What do you guys just has to understand; Kitty druids have to eat too.

Druid 202 Moonkin Raiding (Not Finished Yet)

Posted by admin on 03/25/2010

I’ve got time at work to get this done. Be happy, and get off my back Also I intentionally didn’t add any BBC coding into it for the very reason you can go ahead and make it all look pretty and stuff. Moonkin Raiding, Mini Deathstars, and You! You’ve hit 80, you want to raid, you’ve got to get ready! Here is the following things that will be covered. 1. Talents / Glyphs 2. Stats – Enchants, Gems and Consumables 3. Rotation vs Priority and helpful addons 4. Uncle Arex’s Rambles on min/maxing 5. Professions 1. Talents The raiding moonkin spec is pretty straight forward and deviating from it is usually left to 2 or 3 points pending on your play style. The Bare Bones balance raiding spec. As you can see the following leaves you with 2 open points to allocate as you see fit. Pending your needs the following are the most common places to put them. 2/3 Intensity – This is the most common place for those 2 points for beginning moonkins in 5 man and 10 man situations. This allows some mana regen making it much easier for extended periods of fighting. 2/2 Gale Winds – If you’re doing Naxx or Uld there are situations where you will be doing much more aoe than normal. 1/2 Gale Winds, 1/1 Typhoon – This is probably the most common place for these two points. Still able to do decent aoe damage and typhoon for situational fights. 2/3 Owlkin Frenzy – This is more a pvp talent but has a slight degree of merit in some fights in WotLK, mainly in Ulduar do you find this talent to be mildly useful. The best possible way to get 3 points to allocate is to leave one point from Nature’s Reach, at the moment, tier 9 raiding, range is almost never an issue except in select situations. The glyphs you use are entirely straight forward and you will for the most part never change them out. Glyph of Starfire – Adds 3 seconds to your moonfire dot every time you cast a starfire, stacks up to 3 times. Glyph of Insect Swarm – Increases the damage of IS by 30, but no longer decreases hit by 2 on targets. Glyph of Moonfire – Decreases the damage of moonfires initial damage by 90 but increases the periodic damage by 75. Now, really the only one glyph you should ever switch out is Glyph of Insect Swarm for Glyph of Starfall. There are two reasons to ever switch this out. Glyph of starfall reduces the cooldown of starfall by 30 seconds. So if you’re on a fight with lots of adds glyph of starfall should outperform the IS glyph. The other reason is if you are doing progressive raiding into new content for your guild glyph of starfall will be the last amount of dps loss by losing IS glyph for the extra 2 miss chance for tanks. That is really the only two reasons one would ever use other glyphs. 2. Stats Hit Rating Required – 236(9) for Alliance with the Heroic Presence buff from Dranaei, 263 (10) for Horde. Remember, Balance of Power gives you 4 and Improved FF will give you another 3 to help you cap. Haste Soft Cap – 400. After you reach 400 haste the value drops and crit begins to take over as the best secondary stat. The reason you soft cap at 400 is once you recieve the Nature’s Grace buff you have enough haste to make your wrath casts 1 second, exactly on the gcd. Anything more can push your wraths past the apex of the gcd and cause clipping of your wrath casts. The biggest issue is to meet hit cap, and then try to soft cap your haste, anything over 400 isn’t going to destroy your dps. Barring spell power being your best stat of the secondary stats you can use the following. Hit(until cap) > Haste(until soft cap) > Crit > Int > Spirit Enchants and Gems! Head – 30 sp/20 crit (Kirin Tor revered) Shoulders – 24 sp/15 crit (Sons of Hodir exalted) Back – 23 haste Chest – 10 stats Wrists – 30 sp Gloves – 28 sp Leggings – 50 sp/20 spirit Boots ?? Vitality (If over hit cap use Tuskarr’s faster movement means more dps when you’re in movement heavy fights) Weapon – 1h ~ 63 sp, 2h ~ 81 sp Runed Cardinal Ruby – 23 spell power Purified Dreadstone – 12 sp/10 spirit (You will only need two of these to meet your meta. Put them into your blue sockets) Chaotic Skyflare Diamond – 21 Crit/3 increased Crit Damage There is one thing that needs to be said about the Purified Dreadstones though. 12 spell power / 10 spirit, because of the improved Moonkin Talent is actually 15 spell power. Due to socket bonuses it is possible that the Purified Dreadstone will become better than the Runed Cardinal Ruby. 12 spell power + 10 spirit (3 spell power) = 15 Spell Power

Steady Shot analysis and questions

Posted by admin on 03/22/2010

- REVISION: This is a major revision, I’d take a look again if you’ve seen it before. – Fixed damage calculation to RAP/14 speed – Added weapon + ammo DPS – Added effect of AotV – Changed speed to 2.8 seconds to get the correct multiplier for aimed and multi shot – Considered a wider range of RAP (for illustration, really) – Now added effect of 15 increase of quiver Things NOT in this version: – Didn’t take into account talents like RWS or Barrage – Didn’t take crit chance into account. – Didn’t have any buffs at all besides AotV – So I just got Steady Shot a few days ago, and am trying to work out a shot rotation with it. Description: Quote: Requires Level 66 110 Mana8-35 yd range 1.5 sec cast Requires Ranged Weapon A steady shot that causes 100 damage. Causes an additional 175 damage against Dazed targets. 30 of your Ranged Attack Power is added to Steady Shot’s damage.

Confused

Posted by admin on 03/19/2010

First off, I would say that many people may feel that the difference in stat bonus (more agi, more stam) would make it worthwhile to go for the sonic spear. It’s a tradeoff. For some people the attack power is worth the drop in stats, for others it’s not. there’s also the hit rating difference.

Leveling pets?

Posted by admin on 03/18/2010

Leveling up a pet that is far below your level is hard work. Your pet only gains XP if you do, so you will be fighting mobs using melee because your pet won’t be able to tank without dying. I have done it by fighting green mobs and letting my pet help.-There are plenty of talented players who look down on the rest of us. It is a rare talent when a good player is able to teach people to be better. If you find that kind of player, join their guild!Pets XP bar is one third of your own, if at the same level.-Wheels Darigraz to North wrote:I is not liking this idea of stepping in offices, the office of you is sounds like a Hottopic where all the transvestite makeup men hangs out and talks about havings sex with they fall out boy. Whys do they wants sex with nuclear freak? Thanks Phoenix. I’ll give it a go and see how I get on. Your pet should level faster than you. Tame it, then press shift+p and look at its XP bar, you will notice that the amount of xp needed to level is vastly inferior to yours. Taming something 24 levels behind you will still take you a while to take to your own level, though. I suggest you put your current pet in a stable, so if you decide your new pet is leveling too slow, you won’t have lost your current one Edited, Mar 7th 2007 6:26am by

multiple quivers

Posted by admin on 03/16/2010

It goes by the highest appropriate bonus. You can have ammo outside your quiver and it will still work. And the old issue wasn’t that multiple quivers worked, but rather than quivers and ammo pouches 70 hunter of Dark Legacy, Lightbringer Only the exceptions can be exceptional.
